Selective laser sintering (SLS) material: iglidur® i3
The iglidur® i3 material, specially developed for laser sintering, showed an abrasion resistance 3 to 30 times better than conventional materials for laser sintering in the tribological tests in the igus® test laboratory. As a result, the degrees of freedom are further increased when designing wear-stressed sliding components. It is used for all sliding applications, as well as rollers, racks, spur gears and bevel gears.
When to use it?
- For all types of applications where low friction and high wear resistance are important
- When an easy to process laser sintering material with high strength is required
- When components with high mechanical strength are required, in particular spur gears, bevel gears, drive nuts, special slides and spherical bearings
- Very good wear properties with anodised aluminium as a counter partner
When not to use it?
- For use under water or with high humidity
- If components with ESD specifications are required
- For worm gear applications
- If a food grade material is required
- If components with higher elasticity are required
- If the application temperature is higher than 80°C in the long term
